Psyomics secures £1.5m funding to transform mental health diagnosis in the UK

Psyomics Ltd, a UK-based healthtech and University of Cambridge spin-out, has closed a £1.5 million  funding round from existing and new investors to bring its mental health assessment and diagnosis platform, Censeo, to market in the UK. University spinout specialists Parkwalk led the round, joined by fellow existing investors Jonathan Milner, Martlet, and Cambridge Enterprise.

Health tech startup Occuity raises £1m with support from Angel Investment Network

Disease Screening and Diagnosis startup, Occuity has raised more than £1m, supported by Angel Investment Network, the world’s largest online angel investment platform. Occuity is developing products to screen for, diagnose and monitor major chronic health conditions including diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease. Reading-based Occuity has developed a non-invasive optical device that works by detecting markers that the body deposits in the eye.

Hearing Diagnostics' revolutionary hearing test secures Archangels investment

An innovative new system that has the potential to revolutionise hearing tests globally has received financial backing from Scottish business angel investment syndicate, Archangels.  Edinburgh-based Hearing Diagnostics Limited has received £715,000 of investment which will enable its hearing test system to undergo trials with universities and hearing aid retailers in the UK with a view to full market launch in 2021.

Gresham House Ventures invests £5m in eConsult Health

The £5m investment, made on behalf of the Baronsmead VCTs, is in addition to further investment from existing shareholders and will support the expansion of eConsult Health into the secondary care market.

Beyond maintaining its position as the leading digital triage services in GP surgeries, eConsult Health will continue the rollout of its Urgent and Emergency Care triage solution, eTriage, and outpatient referral software, eSpecialist.

Ori Biotech raises $30m from Octopus and Northpond

Clin-e-cal crowdfunds over £130,000 to develop smart tech for asthma sufferers

British digital health start-up Clin-e-cal has raised over £130,000 on leading crowdfunding platform Crowdcube to fund the commercialisation and scale-up of its smart inhaler monitoring technology. Clin-e-cal’s smartphone apps use unique SoundResponse® technology, which analyses sound signals asscociated with the inhaler device. The apps then use these sound signals to provide real-time visual feedback to users on their inhalation technique, as well as tracking their adherence.

26-yr-old helps 850,000 dementia sufferers with new invention

London startup, Jelly Drops, has launched in the UK to help boost the water intake of the elderly and 850,000 Britons living with dementia that have been amongst the hardest hit by the pandemic. Dehydration is especially common amongst the elderly, especially those  with dementia, as they often forget to drink. In fact,  37% of older people admitted into hospitals are acutely dehydrated.

Piper invests £11.5m into smart bike brand Wattbike

Piper has invested £11.5m investment into Wattbike, the world's first smart indoor bike brand, joining the impressive team, led by CEO Rich Baker, on their mission to make Wattbike a global brand legend. The team will also be joined by non-executive chairman Gordon Baird, former chairman of sports footwear brand Inov-8 and swimwear brand Zoggs.
