Bath-founded startup Naturbeads receives major new funding for factory

Naturbeads, a startup company founded by University of Bath researchers, has received new funding to build a new factory to increase production of its plant-based alternative to microplastic beads.

The company has developed innovative biodegradable cellulose ‘microspheres', which will replace microplastics in a range of consumer and industrial products.

It received £7.8 million in its latest funding round, from investors including Eos Advisory, Progress Tech Transfer and CDP Venture Capital.

MintNeuro secures £1m to advance semiconductor technology for neural implants

MintNeuro, a pioneer of scalable, low-power semiconductor technology for minimally-invasive neural implant applications, has raised £1 million in a funding round led by Empirical Ventures. Good Boost secures £500k investment for its ‘world-first’ aqua rehabilitation technology

Bristol start-up, Good Boost, has secured a £150,000 investment from British Design Fund, as part of a £500,000 funding round, to accelerate the development of its world-first, AI-driven, aquatic rehabilitation technology.

Good Boost is aiming to transform swimming pools and community spaces into therapeutic places for rehabilitation, wellbeing, and healthy ageing. The company's unique digital aqua paddles make it possible to quantify human movement in water, aiding patient recovery and athlete conditioning programmes.

According to co-founder and CEO, Ben Wilkins, the pioneering technology is a game-changer for patients, physiotherapists, players and coaches, giving them the ability to analyse and evaluate aquatic rehabilitation interventions accurately for the first time.
