Investors at the recent Dorset Business Angels pitch event were presented with a diverse range of companies seeking angel investment to accelerate their business growth. The event, held last Monday evening, featured five pitches, with two companies generating interest from potential investors.

Evoralis Ltd is one of the first company to benefit from the programme and its investment portfolio will be managed by CPI Enterprises, the investment arm of CPI.

Iris.ai, a provider of a world-leading and award-winning AI engine for scientific text understanding, has raised €7.64m in its latest funding round. This investment will support the company's continued growth and innovation in the field of AI-assisted scientific research, and contribute to a dynamic European AI ecosystem. The round includes a number of angel investors who invested around 10% of the equity.

The creation of a new angel network, SWEBAN Network (formerly Nordic Angels) was formally announced at the recent EBAN Congress by EBAN board member, Christine Bjärkby.   Their ambition is to provide a home for Angel Investors within the region and to support the growth of existing/new business angel groups within the region. It has always been a challenge for angels to find corporations within the Sweden, therefor SWEBAN wants to be a light house for the community to grow in the country.

The Development Bank of Wales has invested £250,000 in a £440,000 a funding round for Tendertec whose AI-powered technology is helping to keep the elderly healthy, independent and safe.  

EMV Capital, a VC investor specialising in high-growth deep tech companies, has led a c.£3.4m investment round into its portfolio company Sofant Technologies, a leading edge wireless technology company developing next generation phased-array antenna platforms.

The fundraising was led by EMV Capital, syndicated from its cohort of private EIS investors, and joined by Kelvin Capital and Scottish Enterprise. The company is now set to execute its go-to-market strategy, using funds from this investment round to deliver satellite terminals to SatCom operators and their clients in aerospace, defence and security and civilian applications. Sofant has made significant product commercialisation progress, including development contracts with Inmarsat (now part of Viasat), the European Space Agency and a global defence company.

West London startup, Aeropowder, whose innovative solutions made from surplus feathers offer a sustainable alternative to single use plastics and other harmful materials, has secured a £150,000 investment from British Design Fund and business angels.
