SQCDP, a Newcastle-based SaaS startup, has successfully raised £200k to increase manufacturing efficiencies and support workforce engagement by removing problem paper systems in factories. The £200k funding is part of a wider pre-seed funding round which is still being raised.

PulmoBioMed  - a Northumbria University spin-out which has developed a new lung test that could lead to earlier diagnosis of asthma and other conditions - has raised £1.4m to help commercialise its technology and target the US market.  The investment round was led by the North East Venture Fund, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia Ventures, and included Northumbria University, SFC Capital and private investors in the USA, EU and UK. The company has also secured a £700,000 grant from Innovate UK to help it demonstrate the benefits of its technology.

London-based angel syndicate, Veridian Ventures, completed a £150,000 investment in Maji, “a market leading financial wellbeing and open finance platform that educates and coaches employees to build their financial resilience, confidence and ability to save for the future”. This investment forms part of Maji’s £500,000 seed funding round, demonstrating Veridian Ventures’ commitment to supporting innovative ventures tackling challenges like financial stress and lack of financial literacy.

HDM Solar, one of the UK's fastest-growing wholesalers of renewable energy products, has announced a major £10.2m funding boost led by a multi-million pound equity investment from Angel Invest in Berlin and supported by UK based DF Capital. The business will use the investment and working capital facility to accelerate the rollout of a nationwide network of branches which will generate new jobs and provide local support to installers, businesses and consumers in every corner of the country.  

AI audio content pioneer Wondercraft has raised a $3m Seed round to scale its ‘Canva of audio’ platform in a round led by Will Ventures and backed by Y Combinator,  ElevenLabs, Steven Bartlett and other Angels. The technology enables anyone to create studio-quality audio productions - whether it’s for podcasts, ads, audiobooks, meditations or training materials - in any language, by simply typing.

Newly launched TCR company ALKemist Bio has closed a €6.9 million funding round to develop first-in-class TCR Cell Therapy for ALK-Positive Tumors.

Italian Angels for Growth (IAG), the leading investor network in Italy, has strengthened its presence in the U.S. territory and on the West Coast, where it has already been active for several years.

Operated via Sixth Wave Angel Group (SWAG), the fund invests directly in early-stage companies developing proprietary technologies that tackle fundamental global challenges using science-backed approaches.
